The It Gets Better theater project is described as the upbeat, exciting, and funny narrative and musical that includes moments of pain and pathos from the 'It Gets Better' you tube videos and project, started by Seattle's Dan Savage. The work explores what 'better' means for LGBT youth through stories, songs and multimedia on an array of challenging themes. With its unqualified support of all young people, It Gets Better creates and unites allies in solidarity against the pervasive (and growing) climate of bullying and teen violence.

Theatre Aspen today announced the completion of their two-year, $2MM capital campaign, which supported the building of the new Hurst Theatre and lobby, and significant upgrades to the grounds. This work was undertaken in partnership with the Aspen City Parks Department, as part of a larger renovation to the John Denver Sanctuary in the Rio Grande Park, within which the theatre resides.

The National Black Touring Circuit's Black History Month Play Festival 2013 will examine American history from anti-slavery Abolitionists to the emergence of the NAACP to the height of the civil rights movement through dramas on the lives of African American historic figures Frederick Douglass, W.E.B. DuBois and Adam Clayton Powell. Performances are in New York City theaters from February 8 - 24.

Armada Music Receives 18 Nominations at International Dance Music Awards

Dutch record company Armada Music has received no less than 18 nominations for this year's International Dance Music Awards. The four-times winner of the 'Best Global Record Label' award is once again in the running of prolonging their title. Maykel Piron, CEO and co-founder of Armada Music, is nominated for 'Best Record Label Executive' after receiving the awards in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Armin van Buuren, one of the co-founders of the label, received 10 nominations in 9 different categories.

Casting has been announced for the Omaha return engagement of DISNEY'S THE LION KING. Omaha's most eagerly awaited stage production ever will leap onto the Orpheum Theater stage from Tuesday, March 12 ending Sunday, April 7, 2013. (The press opening night is Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m.) The show's five-week premiere engagement in 2007 played a sold-out run at the Orpheum.

Acclaimed Irish folk music ensemble Altan-known for its dynamic live performances that range from traditional Irish songs to hard hitting reels and jigs-makes its Zankel Hall debut on Friday, March 8 at 8:30 p.m. The group-which features Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh, Ciaran Tourish, Dermot Byrne, Daithi Sproule, and Ciaran Curran-was built on a foundation of commitment to bringing the beauty of traditional music (particularly that of the Donegal fiddlers and singers) to contemporary audiences in a way that excludes none of its distinctive characteristics. Throughout the group's more than 25-year performance history, which includes countless international performances and celebrated recordings, Altan has become an important ambassador of the music and culture of Ireland. Altan's performance is presented by Carnegie Hall in partnership with World Music Institute.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis by Icelandic theater collective Vesturport in collaboration with Lyric Hammersmith (U.K.). Directed and adapted by Gisli Örn Gardarsson and David Farr, the production runs in the Eisenhower Theater from February 20-22 as part of Nordic Cool 2013. Press opening night is February 20, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. The production will be performed in English.

The preview party was held to raise awareness for the Ambassadors' 16th Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction, which will take place Friday, March 1, 2013, at the Duquesne Club, and will feature wines from Capital Wine & Spirits.

The Museum of Modern Art announces Documentary Fortnight 2013: MoMA's International Festival of Nonfiction Film and Media, the 12th annual two-week showcase of recent documentary films examining the relationship between contemporary art and nonfiction practices, and reflecting on new areas of documentary filmmaking, from February 15 through March 4, 2013. This year's festival includes an International Selection of 21 feature-length films and 2 shorts, most of which are U.S. or New York premieres that will be presented by the filmmakers.

Tonequake Records Announces Upcoming Releases

Tonequake Records (www.tonequake.com), an independent record label formed by noted producer, engineer and mixer Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele, U2) confirmed today that new records from both Austin band Act Rights and Swiss singer/songwriter Heidi Happy are confirmed for today and March 19 respectively. Both acts will be touring in support of their new records, performing at SXSW and in Heidi's case, appearing at Canadian Music Week this March and NXNE in June. Australia's hard rock band Twenty Two Hundred will also be dropping their debut album on Tonequake on February 19, 2013.
