Born in Cairo and raised in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Adam Ashraf Elsayigh is a playwright, translator and educator who works on new plays. While studying playwriting, dramaturgy and global theater in NYU Abu Dhabi, Adam has written a collection of plays, worked with emerging theater companies across the Middle East, South Asia and the U.S., and pursued opportunities to translate Arab drama for English stages. Adam’s writing examines issues of race, colonialism and the experience of queerness in the Middle East. When he’s not furiously typing at his laptop, you’ll probably catch Adam running a 10K, learning a new recipe, or backpacking an obscure locale.
