Catherine Alcorn's New Cabaret CATHARTIC at Slide
After dazzling audiences as Bette Midler (The Divine Miss Bette) and Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie (Go Your Own Way), Catherine returns to the stage in Cathartic as herself, blending her signature soulful vocals, razor-sharp humour and magnetic presence with a collection of personal stories and a selection of her favourite pop, rock, jazz and blues classics.
"I'm thrilled to be appearing at Slide with my new show as their inaugural Artist in Residence program. I'm most excited for what a residency like this allows you as an artist to do," says Alcorn. "You have the chance to really settle into the show, build word of mouth, discover new things with each and every audience, and to me that it is the most thrilling idea. The opportunity to build a reputation with a regular spot at a venue - similarly to how performers in the 70s would play regularly at music venues - is a rarity for artists and musicians in Sydney these days."
In creating a unique and exhilarating theatrical experience, Catherine and her three-piece live band of world- class musicians will give the familiar material a contemporary make-over, introducing experimental sounds, looping and beautiful harmonies. The space will also be reconfigured with Catherine and her band performing hits by Blondie, Coolio, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, Bon Jovi, Sade, Belinda Carlisle, Quincy Jones and more to an audience in the round.
Cathartic will play at Slide on Wednesdays throughout October and tickets include a 3-Course Dinner.
