20th Annual FronteraFest Fringe Theatre Festival Applications Now Online

FronteraFest, one of Central Texas' most legendary performance events is pleased to announce its call for 2013 entries. FronteraFest is a collaboration between Hyde Park Theatre and ScriptWorks, a playwright development and service organization. Applications are available online on the Hyde Park Theatre website www.hydeparktheatre.org. The Fest is celebrating its twenty anniversary this year, with the Short Fringe kicking off January 15 – February 16 and the Long Fringe running from January 21 – February 3, 2013.

 The application deadline for both Short and Long Fringe is October 1, 2012. Performance slots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.  The Short Fringe entry fee is $50, with a $10 discount for applications received by October 1. Long Fringe entry fee is $500, with a $50 discount for applications received by October 1. Applications along with payment can be mailed or dropped off in person to Hyde Park Theatre, 511 W. 43rd Street, Austin, TX 78751.

Christi Moore, Executive Director of ScriptWorks and producer of FronteraFest encourages participants to register early.  "FronteraFest embraces diversity of performance so actors, directors, writers, dancers, poets, musicians, and performers of all types and skill levels are encouraged to apply. This year being our 20th anniversary, we anticipate a sharp rise in entries."

 The month-long performance Festival, now a Central Texas institution, showcases over 100 performances through three separate components. The Short Fringe runs the entirety of the Festival Tuesdays through Saturdays Hyde Park Theatre and contains pieces that run 25 minutes or less. The Long Fringe features pieces that run 45-90  minutes in length. Long Fringe shows will be held at Salvage Vanguard Theatre (2803 Manor Rd.)

 The final and most unique component, 'Mi Casa es Su Teatro' consists of performances hosted at private homes on one day, Saturday, February 9th from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. A full list of venues along with schedules will be posted before the holidays on the Hyde Park Theatre website, www.hydeparktheatre.org. Persons interested in performing in Mi Casa or sharing their home for a performance can contact Moore directly at fronterafest@hydeparktheatre.org.
