Today Juan Drigo Ricafort announces the release of the record single "The Council Has Spoken," featuring two-time Tony Award nominee Robin de Jesús (Original 2008 Broadway cast of IN THE HEIGHTS, 2010 Broadway revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, and musical film CAMP). Inspired by the story of Star Wars, "The Council Has Spoken" is a rap opera born out of Ricafort's own influences, including trap hip-hop, contemporary musical theatre, and short-form audio drama.

Set when the Jedi Council denies Anakin Skywalker the rank of Jedi Master, "The Council Has Spoken" captures the conflicting perspectives of key characters-Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padmé Amidala-as the tragedy of Anakin's transformation into Darth Vader unfolds. Musical features include double-time rap rhythms from an ensemble cast, a futuristic electronic beat, and live harpsichord and cello melodies; the music video further enhances the experience with gritty visuals and character-driven storytelling. The record and video release coincides with the upcoming, much-anticipated theatrical release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and is an homage to the lasting fandom and extended cultural resonance of George Lucas's franchise.
