Village Playwrights to Celebrate Pride with Short Play Festival Today

The parade isn't the only way to celebrate NYC Pride. Join the Village Playwrights for readings of eight new LGBTQ themed 10 minute plays today, June 25, from 8 pm to 10 pm at the LGBT Community Center, 208 W. 13th St., NYC. $3 suggested donation.

The plays include:

- "Lawyer Looking for Love: Date-O-Rama 1" by Jeffrey Harmon Smith

The compatibility of a conservative Afro-American man and a Jewish liberal lawyer is tested on a blind date.

- "Mistaken Identity" by Sharon E. Cooper

A Lesbian, Hindu Indian woman is at the end of a long line of very bad dates with an American Texas Cowboy who's desperate to marry.

- "Telling" by Austin Alexis

A Go-Go Dancer is uncovered.

- "The Middle Seat" by Ross Hewitt

A male couple receives relationship advice from a psychic on an airplane.

- "When Men Were Men "by Lawrence DuKore

The sting of an undercover cop in drag is disrupted by an old high school buddy.

- "Uncle Clyde and His Niece Mary" by Debbra Liverman

Clyde and boyfriend Harris are now raising Clyde's precocious teen niece Mary.

- "Samson and the Blow Dryer" by Bradley Troll

Sparks fly when Sam's hair is shorn.

- "Waltzing, One, Two, Three" by Lawson Caldwell

Two unlikely friends who, during a simple waltz lesson, help one another out.

ABOUT THE VILLAGE PLAYWRIGHTS: The Village Playwrights meet at 8 PM on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at the LGBT Center, 208 W. 13th Street.
