In this week's New York Time's In Performance video, singer T. Oliver Reid is featured, accompanied by Lawrence Yurman on piano. Reid performs the jazz standard "Sophisticated Lady," a number from his cabaret show "Drop Me Off in Harlem."

The song was composed as an instrumental piece by Duke Ellington, who introduced it on record in 1933. Lyrics were added later on by Mitchell Parish.

And in an In Performance bonus, Mr. Reid and Mr. Yurman also perform "Take the A Train," a Billy Strayhorn number that became known as Ellington's signature tune in 1941. Both songs were featured in the 1981 Broadway revue "Sophisticated Ladies," which received a Tony Award nomination for best musical.

Reid's show "Drop Me Off in Harlem," will play on March 22nd at the Metropolitan Room. Watch both performances below!
