As AMERICAN IDOL Season 14 auditions get underway at the Nassau Coliseum in New York, hopeful contestants will lining up to perform for Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and guest judge Adam Lambert. Hear what Lambert had to say to ETOnline about the opportunity below!

Due to the unexpected passsing of Nicole Kidman's father last week, full time Idol judge Keith Urban will be taking a leave of absense to be by his wife's side.

Lambert previously served as a mentor during the 13th season of the show alongside Idol alum Chris Daughtry.

A finalist on the eighth season of AMERICAN IDOL, Lambert's 2009 album For Your Entertainment debuted at #3on the Billboard Top 200, Top 10 in numerous countries worldwide and featured the singles"For Your Entertainment," "Whataya Want from Me" and "If I Had You." The album has gone on to sell more than two million copies and nearly five million singles worldwide.Soon after the album release, Lambert headlined a worldwide concert tour, Glam Nation, becoming the first AMERICAN IDOL contestant to immediately tour worldwide. Lambert's 2012 album "Trespassing" bettered his first album by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart
