TINSELED to Receive Developmental Showcase at Arizona Broadway Theatre
The family musical features book by Katie Postotnik and music by Barry Anderson and Mark Robert Petty.
A developmental showcase of the new original Christmas musical TINSELED will be presented this evening at the Arizona Broadway Theatre in Peoria, Arizona, following a week-long workshop dedicated to developing the new family-friendly production.
Written by New York-based collaborators Katie Postotnik (book) and Barry Anderson (music and lyrics), alongside Mark Robert Petty (music and lyrics), TINSELED examines the pressures of maintaining constant holiday cheer in a world obsessed with being "Merry & Bright."
Over the past week, performers and creative team members have participated in an intensive development process that included rehearsals, script revisions, music sessions and staging work. The workshop will culminate in an invited showcase presentation at 7:00 p.m.
The musical centers on Tinsel Peppermint, an elf living at the North Pole who begins to question the expectations that have shaped her life. As she embarks on a journey of self-discovery, Tinsel challenges long-held assumptions about happiness, belonging and what it truly means to embrace one's authentic identity.
The showcase will feature selections from the musical's score, including "One of the Heroes," "Missing Piece," "Full-Fledged Me," "Wish" and "Wrapped In Your Love For Christmas."
TINSELED is the latest original work to emerge through the musical development process at Arizona Broadway Theatre and offers audiences an early look at a new holiday-themed musical still in development.
About TINSELED
TINSELED is a new original family musical with a book by Katie Postotnik and music and lyrics by Barry Anderson and Mark Robert Petty. Set in a Christmas world driven by expectations of constant joy and positivity, the musical follows an elf named Tinsel Peppermint as she navigates questions of identity, belonging and self-acceptance.
