Stageplays Theatre Company presents a 2-performance benefit concert reading Sunday and Monday, December 13-14, to introduce its next world-premiere play, It's Only Money, a new comedy by Llywelyn Jones and Tom Ferriter.

It's Only Money , is a comedy about a blocked novelist who returns home, no-strings attached protégé in tow, to unite with her sister to stake a claim for an early payout on their inheritance. Their mother, sharp-witted matriarch to the family's considerable fortune, liquidates the assets and self-commits to a retirement community, destroying all dreams her daughters have for a re-distribution of the wealth. A story where the costs of unfulfilled promise and the need for acceptance challenge the passions of a spirit that cannot be broken.

Stageplays' Artistic Director Tom Ferriter directs a cast led by Lorraine Serabian (Tony-nominee, Zorba, Cabaret original casts), Rebecca Baxter (Jekyll & Hyde, Meet Me In St. Louis, Phantom, ) Ben McHugh (Mama Mia, Hairspray, The Producers), Maria Deasy (The Crucible) and Andrew Davis ( The Cobalteans).

It's Only Money is being presented at Theater at St. Jean, a 200-seat Off Broadway venue, and former home to DiCapo Opera Theatre, located at Lexington Avenue and 76th Street, in Manhattan.

Performances are Sunday, December 13th at 7:00pm, and Monday, December 14th at 7:30pm. All seats $50.00 and benefit Stageplays Theatre Company

Stageplays Theatre Company (Stageplays) is a not-for-profit company formed in 1992 to develop and produce new plays and musicals for the American theatre which address the issues of our times. Since its founding, Stageplays has premiered seven plays and one musical in full production, introduced 64 new plays in workshop presentations, and held more than 350 readings of new plays by 128 established and emerging playwrights, composers and lyricists. To date, 49 plays have had U.S. premieres and nine have received European productions.
