The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Kitty G Productions has announced that The Screams of Kitty Genovese, a musical drama inspired by the murder that shocked the nation, will have its NYC premiere as part of Third Annual New York Musical Theatre Festival, beginning performances Tuesday, September 26th, and continuing its limited engagement through October 1st at the Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street).

"Kitty Genovese fights for her life in the dark of the street while thirty-eight neighbors watch from their windows - silent, afraid, paralyzed. Why do decent people look away? With a thrilling score by Will Todd and libretto by Jonathan Larson Award-winner David Simpatico, The Screams of Kitty Genovese explores the events of that fateful night," state press notes.

David Edwards directs a cast that features Cheryl Alexander (Frannie), Brendan Byrnes (Vinny), Elizabeth DeRosa (Cathy), Shawna M. Hamic (Betty), Amy Justman (Martha), Kevin Kern (Jimmy), Arthur W. Marks (Winston Moseley) Michael 'Tuba' McKinsey (Marty), Jody Reynard (Baby), Russell H. Saylor III (Mac), Melanie Vaughan (Mommy), and Sheri Sanders as Kitty Genovese.

Mary Mitchell Campbell will serve as Musical Supervisor. The Screams of Kitty Genovese will have set design by Dan Meeker, costume design by Gail Cooper-Hecht, lighting design by Kevin Greene and sound design by Don Jacobs. Robert Westley will provide Fight Choreography.

The Theatre at St. Clement's is located at 423 West 46th Street, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues. Tickets will be $20 and go on sale September 1st at www.NYMF.org or by calling 212/352-3101.
