Molly Montgomery's SNAKES I HAVE KNOWN Opens at FringeNYC Today

SNAKES I HAVE KNOWN, a new play by Molly Montgomery based on her true story of fleeing Texas for NYC, will be presented in the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival.

There are all kinds of snakes in Molly Montgomery's life. Some of them are reptiles. Most of them are Texans. On her 16th birthday, she finds herself snake-bit and naked outside her front door in Nowhere, Texas. SNAKES I HAVE KNOWN is the amazing true story of Molly Montgomery's journey from DFW to JFK, and the bites along the way.

Montgomery, a native Texan, packed her bags at the age of 16 and moved to New York City to pursue her dream of becoming an actress. She graduated from the Michael Howard Conservatory and began work on SNAKES I HAVE KNOWN. It was at Michael Howard Studios that the play was first showcased as a part of the Works In Progress program. From there it moved to Theatre Row in the United Solo Festival. Immediately following the festival, the play was published by Indie Theatre Now. Molly has co-starred on Law & Order: SVU, Preoccupied and All My Children.

SNAKES I HAVE KNOWN will be directed by Jim Shankman, the author of Suicide Math and Kiss Your Brutal Hands whose plays have been developed and presented at The New Group, Emerging Artists, Abingdon Theatre, New Jersey Rep and Penguin Rep.

SNAKES I HAVE KNOWN will be presented at Jimmy's No. 43 located at 43 East 7th Street between Second and Third Avenues.

The performance schedule for SNAKES I HAVE KNOWN is as follows: tonight, August 11 at 7pm; Thursday, August 15 at 5:30pm; Saturday, August 17 at 7:15pm; Sunday, August 18 at 12pm; Thursday, August 22 at 9:15pm; and Friday, August 23 at 5pm. The August 18 performance will be followed by a talkback with Molly Montgomery.
