Meg Flather Returns to Don't Tell Mama With Tribute to 'Women's Writes', 4/12

By:

Two-time Backstage Bistro Award-winning performer Meg Flather will be presenting her latest cabaret show, Meg Flather/Women's Writes, at Don't Tell Mama (343 West 46th Street) on Friday, April 12 at 7:30 pm (call 212-757-0788 for reservations). Flather, who is often compared vocally, lyrically and stylistically to legendary singer/songwriters Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon, Annie Lennox, and Suzanne Vega, will celebrate female singer/songwriters not typically featured in New York cabaret shows. The set will also include a few of Flather's original songs that reflect the style and subject matter of the show. Everyone paying the $12 show cover charge will get a complimentary copy of Flather's latest album, On The Second Floor. She will accompanied in the show by her guitarist John Mettam.

"All of Flather's songs are delivered with her folk-infused mezzo, down-to-earth personality, and the adorable stage presence and sense of humor that comes naturally for a lady with years of experience hosting home-shopping TV shows," wrote BroadwayWorld.com cabaret reviewer Stephen Hanks about Flather's 2012 show, Man-Made. "And her own songs were a delight."

Flather has been a featured performer for The Gay Men's Health Crisis at New York's historic Webster Hall, the 2002 Vermont Film Festival, and at the 2003 and 2004 Tribeca Film and Family Festivals. While hosting The Rosie O'Donnell Show, actress Caroline Rhea described Flather's original music as "totally beautiful." Her songs are showcased in the independent film, Nobody's Perfect, which screened at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival, in Off-Broadway's Acts of Love, and a multi-media project dedicated to mental illness and teen suicide prevention, A Secret Best Not Kept.

Flather also represents the beauty products StriVectin on QVC, and StriVectin and Perlier products on The Shopping Channel of Canada. You can listen to Flather's music and learn more about her at: www.megflather.com.
