Mathew Knowles Discusses His Plans For SURVIVOR: THE DESTINY'S CHILD MUSICAL

BroadwayWorld recently announced that Survivor: The Destiny's Child Musical is coming soon! The production will premiere in Houston, with plans for Broadway, London's West End and, eventually, its own world tour.

For the first time ever, audiences will be treated to an honest, behind-the-scenes look at how the greatest girl group of all time was created - courtesy of the mastermind behind them, Mathew Knowles.

Knowles recently chatted with Paper about his plans for the production.

He revealed that he is not sure exactly when the show will premiere.

"We're at the early stages," he said. "We just got the script and have a little work to do."

Commenting on the recent trend in the format of bio-musicals - casting multiple actors as a person in different stage of their life - Knowles revealed that this will not be the case with this show.

"The main character is me, because I'm telling my perspective," he said. "It starts when the girls were very young on Star Search, up till about 2010. That's what we're doing more - telling my story. At 67, if I don't tell my story, someone will tell his story and it would be inaccurate."

Knowles' dream cast to play him in the musical? Idris Elba.

"But we've reached out and the timing is off," he said. "We'll cast it and get the best person."

Since its inception in 1990, Destiny's Child has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, won multiple Grammy Awards, served as an inspiration to many musical acts and garnered generations of fans.

Told from his perspective, Survivor: The Destiny's Child Musical will start its roller coaster tale at the point of humble beginnings and travel through a captivating storyline addressing the layers of evolution - good and bad - that Knowles faced during his pioneering climb into the music industry. Ultimately, the story shares the message that building a dream takes sacrifice, even at the cost of everything and everyone you love.
