LUCKY STIFF Comes to The Bridewell Theatre

Sedos presents a new production of the award-winning musical Lucky Stiff at the Bridewell Theatre, off Fleet Street, from 18- 22 September 2018. From the creators of some of Broadway's biggest hits - Anastasia, Ragtime, Seussical and Once On This Island - comes a musical comedy about love, death, dogs and diamonds.

Lucky Stiff is an offbeat, hilarious murder mystery farce complete with mistaken identities, six million dollars worth of diamonds, and a corpse in a wheelchair. The story revolves around an unassuming shoe salesman from East Grinstead who is forced to take the embalmed body of his recently murdered uncle on a vacation to Monte Carlo. Should he succeed in passing his uncle off as alive, Harry Witherspoon stands to inherit six million bucks. If not, the money goes to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn.

Tony award-winning writing team Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty first produced the show Off-Broadway in 1988, when it won the Richard Rodgers Award and Washington's Helen Hayes Award for Best Musical. Lucky Stiff made its professional UK debut in 1997 at the Bridewell Theatre, also home of this new production, and was more recently staged at the Union Theatre in 2017.

Director Roger Harwood said, "This is a gem of a show that's long been on my bucket list. Until recently, it's been seldom seen on a London stage and we're thrilled to be bringing it back to the Bridewell Theatre. Of course the story is completely bonkers, but that's what will make this musical farce so much fun to stage and we look forward to bringing it to a live audience."

Lucky Stiff also features choreography by Jane Saunders, and musical direction by Tim Nelson.

Since 2012 Sedos has been the resident theatre company at the Bridewell Theatre.
