Vanessa Hudgens, now starring in Broadway's GIGI, appeared on the Tony red carpet just moments ago and commented on her next project, portraying the iconic role of Rizzo in FOX's upcoming live broadcast of 'Grease.'

"You can't replicate something so iconic, so you really have to make it your own," the High School musical star explained to red carpet host, Darren Criss. "It's such a great, meaty character so it's fun to mix things up a lot."

Airing LIVE Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 (7:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX, GREASE: LIVE will be executive-produced by acclaimed film, television and theater producerMarc Platt. GREASE: LIVE is based on the original musical "Grease" by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, and Paramount Pictures' 1978 feature adaptation. It will be a Paramount Television production.

"High School Musical" sensation Vanessa Hudgens began her work in musical theater at a young age with shows such as "The Wizard of Oz," "The King & I," "The Music Man" and "Cinderella." Her film credits include "Frozen Ground," "Spring Breakers," "Gimme Shelter" and "Bandslam." In 2010, Hudgens won the ShoWest Award for "Female Star of Tomorrow." In 2015, she is currently making her Broadway debut, starring in the title role of the beloved Academy Award-and Tony Award-winning film and stage musical "Gigi."
