Enter a magicAl White tent strewn with stars in Denmark's Songs from Above, a charming puppet and object theater performance for ages two through five, presented by The New Victory Theater in Studio 3A/B at the New 42nd Street Studios from November 8 - 17, 2013.

In Songs from Above, a hit of the New Victory Danish Festival in 2007, the delightful Mette Rosleff uses toy props and delicate puppetry to illustrate lyrical moments of innocent discovery in a remarkable world: the joy of splashing through puddles, running barefoot on the summer grass, being tucked into bed at night. Created by Teater Refleksion and Teater My (meaning "theater micro"), recipients of Denmark's prestigious Reumert Award, Songs from Abovewas specifically selected for presentation at the ASSITEJ International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People World Congress in Copenhagen and Malmö, the industry's largest event, in 2011.

Songs from Above features Rosleff and Sigurd Røge Dissing Pedersen, and is directed by Bjarne Sandborg. The text is written By Mette Rosleff but was conceived by The Combined creative forces of the whole production team. Indeed the performance is very much the result of team work. Songs from Aboveincludes music by Martin Vognsen and puppet and stage design by Mariann Aagaard with assistance from Sofie Faurschou Hastrup.

Songs from Above has a running time of 30 minutes with no intermission and is recommended for ages two through five. Join us before the show for Busy Bees arts and crafts activities to make a memento of your child's earliest theater adventure to bring home.

Songs from Above is supported, in part, by a special presenting grant from The Jim Henson Foundation.

Teater Refleksion and Teater My are supported by the Danish Arts Council's Stage Arts Committee and by the municipality of Aarhus.
