BroadwayWorld brings you to the very first rehearsal of a brand new Off-Broadway musical, Crossing Brooklyn.  Assembled in the same room for the first time on September 11, this special video features some musical highlights and inteviews with the cast and creative.

Transport Group, the winner of a special 2007 Drama Desk Award and a 2007 Obie Award, will present the world premiere of the musical Crossing Brooklyn which will run from October 19th through November 18th. Crossing Brooklyn features music by Jenny Giering and book and lyrics by Laura Harrington, and is directed by Artistic Director Jack Cummings III. The show will play the Connelly Theatre at 220 East 4th Street, between Avenues A and B.

"A modern musical that deals with the emotional aftermath of September 11 in New York, Crossing Brooklyn tells the story of Des and AJ, a young, idealistic couple, both public school teachers bent on changing the world one kid at a time," describe press notes, "Life is full of promise and endless possibility until Des begins to unravel under the weight of her fears, ignited from that fateful September day.  Splitting apart from the pressure, they struggle to find their way back to each other.  The lessons they learn, through the children they meet, change them forever."

Crossing Brooklyn begins previews Friday, October 19; open Sunday, October 28; and run through Sunday, November 18.
