BILLIE WILLIAMS to Bring Her Unique Blues Sound to The Cutting Room, 9/13

With a unique vocal sound she calls, "Contemporary Blues," Billie Williams has been conquering the nightclub and cabaret rooms of New York City-from the Metropolitan Room and Iridium Jazz Club, to Joe's Pub- and now The Cutting Room on September 13 at 9:30 pm.

Once a teenage vocal sensation in her native Boston (where at 16 she co-founded the country swing band Columbus East), in 2012 Williams came out of a self-imposed retirement and earned a BroadwayWorld.com New York Cabaret Award nomination for "Best Female Debut" for her Metropolitan Room show Fade to Blues. She followed that up in 2013 with a highly praised show at Iridium Jazz Club, The Sound of Blue.

In May, 2014, Williams gave a rousing concert at Joe's Pub, celebrating the release of her new original single Lonely Night in Harlem (https://soundcloud.com/billiewilliamsmusic/lonely-night-in-harlem-billie-williams), inspired by life in her long-time Harlem neighborhood. Now Billie will be bringing her rich and unique blend of blues and contemporary music to another top New York nightclub venue, The Cutting Room, on September 13. Her 9-piece back-up band, complete with a horn section and back-up vocals, comprises a group of consummate professional musicians who have toured with recording artists such as Michael Jackson, Beyonce, P. Diddy, Usher, Sting, Bono, Aretha Franklin, and Eric Clapton just to name a few.

Billie Williams possesses a rich repertoire that includes blues, rock, soul, jazz and country. During her career she has performed with the rock band Mezz and the 8-piece R&B band City Edition, where she shared the stage with R&B legends Wilson Pickett and Sam & Dave.
