Award-Winning Play THE ACTUAL DANCE Comes To National Opera Center

Five years after debuting in New York City, actor and playwright Sam Simon is bringing his personal love story, The Actual Dance, back to the Big Apple on April 9, 2018, at the National Opera Center.

The Actual Dance is an award-winning play in one act that has toured the nation for five years, moving audiences to laugh, cry and then cheer! It's a story of love's ultimate journey told through the eyes and heart of a husband as he struggles with his worst fears in what everyone expects to be his wife's losing battle to breast cancer.

In the hour-long performance, with original music and a live performed by Mike Rosengarten on guitar and Elmo Zapp on cello, the story takes the audience on an emotional but uplifting journey that rewards them with an unexpected happy ending, and a universal, life-affirming lesson of hope, faith, and love.

"This journey, this show, The Actual Dance, is the ultimate consummation of my and Susan's love over the last five decades," said Simon.

Mr. Simon has been performing and touring the country with The Actual Dance, since 2013. He presents this beautiful love story to private groups, public theaters as well as, Caregiver groups, medical schools, synagogues and churches, and seminaries. The Actual Dance has been well-received across the country.

The Manhattan Digest called The Actual Dance "...a life-affirming ode to commitment and boundless love." And Stage Buddy called it "Pure theatre as it was initially meant to be."

An audience member, during a production in Indianapolis, said, "I saw your play Thursday evening and it has changed forever how I will relate to my wife. Thank You."
