Author's High Leads Her to Higher State of Being When Carla Mora opened an email newsletter from a meditation retreat center she had visited years prior, she didn't expect to see anything out of the ordinary. It wasn't until she saw a trip for a shamanic cleanse retreat in Peru being advertised, that she went on the journey of a lifetime.

At the time, Mora had just had an emergency appendectomy and booked the trip, to which she said of the retreat, "I became freer than I have ever felt."

"Hype: An Ayahuasca Journey" details Mora's adventures on the shamanic cleanse, particularly her experiences with the hallucinogenic Ayahuasca plant and it's healing properties.

The book also features Mora's journal full of letters to her loved one, Shem Kellogg, as she had no access to communication with him while she was away.

In the months after Mora returned from Peru, Kellogg was diagnosed with cancer, and would eventually pass away from stage IV colon cancer after a grueling months long battle.

"'I published this book after he passed and it was all because I had learned about the 'Vine of the Dead' on this trip that I was able to get through my beloved's passing with much more calm and ease than if I never went on the retreat," Mora said. "This book resembles our beautiful relationship, and I want to share it with the world in memory and honor of him.'"

"Hype" will take readers on a journey of adventure, discovery, and love as they see the power of Mama Ayahuasca.

About the author
Carla Mora is currently working as a health coach. She is currently in the process of learning more about the medicines of the Shaman, and will be helping facilitate future Ayahuasca retreats in Peru, so that others can experience what she did. Mora also hopes to one day build a foundation and offer scholarships to those who can't afford the steep cost of taking an Ayahuasca journey.
