Following its historic performance as the first drama ever staged under the golden dome of Connecticut's State Capitol building, A Goodnight Kiss will return to the Litchfield Hills for an exclusive residence at Five Points Arts Center.

The Civil War-era drama, written by award-winning playwright Cinzi Lavin and directed by veteran TV/film actress Kathy Kelly, will be staged on June 13 and 14, 2026. This homecoming follows its sold-out premiere in Goshen, Connecticut in June of 2025 and its groundbreaking April 1 performance for state legislators, VIP guests, and cultural leaders in Hartford at the state capitol.

Based on more than 90 love letters discovered in a Connecticut attic, the play tells the poignant story of Fred Lucas and Sarah Jane "Jennie" Wadhams. Their real-life correspondence, now preserved in the CT Museum of History and Culture, documents a resilient bond forged despite distance and the despair of a nation at war with itself.

Lavin's script has been permanently archived in the U.S. Library of Congress for its historical merit.

The upcoming engagement at the world-class Five Points Arts Center serves as the cornerstone of local celebrations for the 250th anniversary of America's independence. Returning to the stage are original cast members David Macharelli and Olivia Wadsworth as the historic couple.
