7th Annual Westerleigh Folk Festival Set for Today

The 7th Annual Westerleigh Folk Festival will be held today, Sept 20th, 2014 from 11:30 am to 7:00 pm. The festival is a free all day music, art and crafts event held yearly in beautiful Westerleigh Park, Staten Island. Last year's festival drew approximately 1200 attendees.

The festival, which has 3 stages features a variety of genres including country, blues, folk, mariachi, jug band, Americana and children's music . There will be 30 vendors selling handmade items such as handbags, silk scarves, jams & jellies, soap and jewelry. Local artists will also be represented displaying their work. There will be dog and cat adoptions sponsored by Louie's Legacy as well as raffles and prizes.

Among the 2014 WestFest featured acts will be Mariachi Flor De Toloache, NYC only all women Mariachi band, Joan Caddell & The Midnight Choir, Allergic To B's , Wahoo Skiffle Crazies, Leila Hegazy , Omnia Hegazy, Christina Rubino, Jim Indell, Mia Theodoratus & The Full Moon Drum Circle, The Daily Band, Jessie Kuffner, Full Moon with Morty Jacobi & Stan Jay, Rachel Issacs Band, Billy Hamill Band, Bob & Ruth and Vincent with Doni & Friends.

Westerleigh Park is located at the corner Maine & Neal Dow Ave. in the Westerleigh section of Staten Island. Street parking is available. Park seating is limited so bring a blanket or chair and enjoy a great day in the park. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 21nd.
