Mark de Raad qill present multiple ARIA award winning pianist Sally Whitwell and acclaimed soprano Marie Angel in concert in Adelaide for the first time. They will perform a selection of contemporary songs and music by Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, Yann Tiersen and Elena Kats-Chernin. The performance will be held in the superb acoustic of Elder Hall. Three performances only, Fri 21 Feb 8pm, Sat 22 Feb 3pm & Sat 22 Feb 10pm.
Elder Hall will be lit up by Tony Award-winner Nigel Levings in a special lighting design that will transform the space for this concert.
By special approval from Michael Nyman, Sally & Marie will also premiere in Australia Michael Nyman's "8 Lust Songs: I Sonetti Lussuriosi" based on Pietro Aretino's controversial 16th Century poetry exploring sex and relationships.
Sally Whitwell has won the ARIA for Best Classical Album in 2013 ("All Imperfect Things" - solo music of Michael Nyman) and 2011 ("Mad Rush" - solo piano music of Philip Glass).
Marie Angel is an international soprano who performs regularly with Michael Nyman and the Michael Nyman Band throughout the world.
