Review: IMMORAL KOMBAT – ADELAIDE FRINGE 2019 at The Moa, Gluttony Reviewed by Corinna Di Niro, Friday 1st March 2019.

The claim, 'feathers will fly', by producers of Immoral Kombat, is an understatement. It's not just feathers doing the flying here, throw in high jumps and kicks, glitter filled balloons, capes and confetti cannons exploding too. In this one night only, winner takes all battle, inspired by 90's game Mortal Kombat, some of Adelaide's own burlesque and pole performers take to the stage to battle it out.

Immoral Kombat is a fully improvised show. The performers do not know whom they are battling against, what music they'll be performing to, and what their 'secret weapon' will be. This kind of spontaneity worked best when in the hands of the more skilled performers, and it also provided some much hilarity when the performers either accidentally got their costumes hooked on to each other, or when they ventured into the audience to work up the crowd.

With a cheering and almost full house crowd, punters enjoyed the Mortal Kombat setup meets the bump and grind of Adelaide's burlesque scene.

I was quite impressed by the array of costumes. It's clear the performers are dedicated to their craft and put a lot of effort into the design, style and overall theme of their costumes.

Congratulations to the veteran winner, Vivienne Von Coffin, and to all the other performers.
