Danny DeVito Tours (and Sings!) with It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia's Musical 'The Nightman Cometh'

If you're a fan of the FX comedy 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia' then you'll be sure to want to see 'The Nightman Cometh' - a live stage adaption of a fan favorite episode from season 4 in which a character in the show writes a rock opera.

'The Nightman Cometh' show opened last Spring in Los Angeles to wide popularity. Based on the demand for more shows, producers decided to take the show on the road for a brief tour.

Danny DeVito, who stars in 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia', and shows off his vocal chops playing an evil troll in 'Nightman' spoke with the New York Times about his musical venture.

Musical performances in 'The Nightman Cometh' were written by Rob McElhenney (Mac), Charlie Day (Charlie) and Glenn Howerton (Dennis) who all star along with Kaitlin Olson (Sweet Dee), and Danny DeVito (Frank). Special appearances include Mary Elizabeth Ellis (The Waitress) and Artemis Pebdani (Artemis).

'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' is an American television sitcom created and developed by Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton, and Charlie Day. The show premiered on FX in 2005. The series follows "The Gang", a group of self-centered friends who run Paddy's Pub in Philadelphia.

The show, now in its fifth season, returns on Thursday, September 17 2009.

DeVito is an American actor, director and producer, who first gained fame on the hit show Taxi. He has starred in films such as 'Romancing the Stone', 'Batman Returns', and 'Throw Momma from the Train'. DeVito has also directed six movies, including 'War of the Roses', and 'Hoffa'. With his Production Company, Jersey Films, he has produced many movies, including 'Pulp Fiction', 'Get Shorty', and 'Erin Brockovich' (which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture).

'The Nightman Cometh' plays the Beacon Theatre in New York City at 8 PM Sept. 16, followed by dates in suburban Philly (Upper Darby's Tower Theater Sept. 19 at 8 and 10:30 PM), Seattle (Moore Theatre Sept. 22 at 8 PM), San Francisco (Nob Hill Masonic Exhibition Hall Sept. 24 at 8 PM) and Los Angeles (Hollywood Palladium Sept. 25 at 8 PM).
