7th Annual Semi-final & Final Events Held For Windy City Gay Idol 5/30, 6/13

The seventh annual Semi-final and Final events for Windy City Gay Idol will be held at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted on May 30th and June 13th.

After nine preliminary competitions and a Wild Card competition on Thursday, May 28th at Roscoe's, the crowning of Chicago's best amateur gay and lesbian singer, the 2009 Windy City Gay Idol, is almost here. Come be a part of the fun as the audience votes for the winner.

Twenty-two contestants representing eight bars in Chicago (Star Gaze, Crew, Mary's Attic, Jackhammer, @mosphere, Sofo, Spin, and Roscoe's) will compete at the Semi-finals Saturday, May 30 at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted for the audience's vote. Twelve singers will go all the way to the Finals on Saturday, June 13 also at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted to sing for the title of Windy City Gay Idol 2009.

Premium sponsors this year are Miller Lite and Skyy Vodka. Other sponsors include: American Airlines, Broadway in Chicago, Creaoke, Ravinia, and WCPT AM & FM: Chicago's Progressive Talk and Windy City Media Group.

Audience members at each event have the chance to win great prizes, such as Miller and Skyy merchandise, Broadway in Chicago and Ravinia tickets, new DVD releases, and a trip for two to Toronto will be awarded to an audience member at both Semi-finals and Finals.

The Windy City Gay Idol 2009 at Sidetrack on June 13th will win $1,000 in cash, a pair of American Airlines tickets, a Miller Lite iPod Touch, Skyy Vodka basket featuring Skyy Pineapple Infusion, a trip to sing at Halloweek in Toronto, Broadway in Chicago tickets, and more. The event is open to all amateur singers age 21 and above, regardless of sexual orientation.

There is a $10 cover at the Semi-finals and Finals at Sidetrack. All audience members will receive a drink ticket and a chance to win prizes including a trip for two to Toronto.

Thursday, May 28: WILD CARD, Roscoe's, 3356 N. Halsted, 9 p.m. door opens, 10 p.m. start. Invited guests plus open slots for new singers.

Sat., May 30: SEMI-FINALS, Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted, 1 p.m. doors, 4 p.m. start.

Sat., June 13: FINALS, Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted, 1 p.m. doors, 4 p.m. start.
