Rubicon International Theatre Festival Opening Ceremony

Rubicon International Theatre Festival will kick off their preview season with an opening ceremony hosted by Ed Begley Jr. The Opening Ceremony will feature the inaugural presentation of The Gordon Davidson Award for Distinguished Creative Contribution to the Art of the Theatre and will honor Gordon Davidson, Founding Artistic Director of Center Theatre Group.  The evening will include a concert by Oscar and Grammy Award Nominee Stephen Bishop and performances by international artists.  

Confirmed celebrities include Joe Mantegna, Bruce Davison, Stephanie Zimbalist, Ed Begley Jr.Linda Purl,   STEPHEN BISHOP, and ALYSON REED. The event will take place July 18th.

Rubicon International Theatre Festival 2008 preview season will be held July 12 -27, 2008, throughout Ventura and is sponsored by Southern California Gas Company in partnership with the City of Ventura. The Festival Director is Linda Purl and Festival Co-Founders are Karyl Lynn Burns and James O'Neil. The Festival will feature distinguished international productions and new works created especially for the Festival. The preview season will include the American premieres of Eye of the Cyclone from the Ivory Coast, a Moliere Award-winning event from France, Imagine-Toi, Samuel Beckett's First Love performed by Conor Lovett from the Gare St Lazare Players of Ireland and Conviction written by Oren Neeman and translated by Mark Williams and American-Israeli artist, Ami Dayan. There will also be a cabaret show with London cabaret artist Giselle Wolfe directed by Ron Abel as well as free outreach events such as A Kabuki Demonstration Lecture, a reading of Rumi's poetry Soaring to Ecstasy and Apprentice Showcase: Evening of Scenes from Around the World by Rubicon's annual apprentice program.
