'Wicked' LA Behind the Emerald Curtain Moves to Fridays at 6PM

By:

Beginning on January 1, 2008, "Behind the Emerald Curtain," the rare insiders' glimpse into the world of the blockbuster Broadway musical Wicked, moves to Friday evenings at 6PM at the Pantages Theatre.  "Behind the Emerald Curtain" provides an exclusive look at the creative journey of the record breaking blockbuster musical, hosted by members of the Los Angeles cast.

"Behind the Emerald Curtain" will be given on Tuesday, December 18 at 5 pm and Friday, December 28 at 5PM before moving to its new time and day on January 1. The December performances are sold out, but tickets are available for performances starting on Friday, January 4.

This 60-minute experience gives audience members the unique opportunity to see what happens to make a big Broadway musical like Wicked come alive at every performance - everything from design and production to performance and marketing.

Tickets for "Behind the Emerald Curtain" are $25 (and does not include admission to Wicked).  Tickets are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 213-365-3500 or 714-740-7878, in person at the Pantages Theatre Box Office, 6233 Hollywood Blvd., or at any Ticketmaster outlet.  Groups of fifteen (15) or more can call 866-755-3075 or online at www.nedgroups.com.

The record-breaking Los Angeles company of Wicked is now performing at the Pantages Theatre, 6233 Hollywood Blvd.

Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman.  The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.  The Grammy Award-winning original cast recording of Wicked, produced by Stephen Schwartz for Decca Broadway, has been one of the fastest selling Broadway recordings of recent years and has been certified 'Platinum' by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Winner of 15 major awards including the Grammy Award and three Tony Awards, "Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz.  One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood.  The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch," explain press notes.
