Milwaukee Chamber Theatre's THE DETECTIVE'S WIFE Opens Tomorrow

Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) continues its 2013-2014 theatre season with the Milwaukee premiere of THE DETECTIVE'S WIFE by Keith Huff, September 18 - October 13, 2013. In addition to numerous plays, Keith Huff has written for the television series "House of Cards" and "Mad Men." This one-woman show features Milwaukee favorite Mary MacDonald Kerr who was last seen at MCT in THE SWEETEST SWING IN BASEBALL. The show is also a production collaboration with the UW-Milwaukee Theatre Department. UWM professor Jim Tasse will direct and the production team members are UWM faculty and students. THE DETECTIVE'S WIFE performs in the Broadway Theatre Center's Studio Theatre in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward. (more...)

Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its 2013-2014 season with the east coast premiere of the new American opera Moby-Dick, February 22 to March 8 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. Written by composer Jake Heggie and featuring an English- language libretto by Gene Scheer based on Herman Melville's 19th-century literary classic, Moby-Dick sweeps audiences straight out to the high seas with its massive nautical sets and dazzling multimedia visual effects, in what is perhaps the most technically challenging opera WNO has ever mounted. 'Yankee Wives,' written and directed by David Rimmer (Pulitzer finalist for 'Album,' author of 'New York') is a sexy, irreverent comedy which looks behind the scenes at six women thrown together because their husbands happen to play for the same Major League Baseball team. The play imagines the personalities behind their public, camera-ready smiles, revealing the nerve-wracking and often comic side of being married to 'big babies with big egos' who rely on them for indispensable support. Ultimately, the play portrays how these women are transformed into a team-within-a-team, collectively enduring by tradition and necessity their husbands' pressures, frailities, superstitions, disappointments and philanderings. Tony Award Winner Steve Kazee Will Play 54 Below for Two Shows in May

Steve Kazee - the 2012 Tony Award winner for his performance as Guy in Once - will make his 54 Below debut with two shows on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 at 8:00pm. The concerts will be Kazee's first chance to showcase his original songs for audiences alongside his band The Shiny Liars. Written in an alt-country vein and reflecting his southern upbringing, Kazee's inspirations are artists such as Damien Jurado, Night Beds, Wilco and others, a few of which Kazee will cover at the show.
