THE ORPHANS' HOME CYCLE, the world premiere of a three part theatrical event by the late Academy Award and Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Horton Foote, will feature a company of 22 actors under the direction of Michael Wilson. Conductor Erich Kunzel, affectionately known worldwide as the 'Prince of Pops,' has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and his medical treatments will prevent him from conducting Ravinia Festival's June 5th opening night concert as scheduled. Stepping in for Kunzel is celebrated Broadway conductor Paul Gemignani, who will lead the concert production of Camelot starring Sylvia McNair, George Hearn and Rod Gilfrey.
Court Theatre concludes its 54th season with August Wilson's beloved classic The Piano Lesson, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson. The fourth play in Wilson's Century Cycle will run at Court Theatre, 5535 S Ellis Avenue, May 5 - June 7, 2009. The press opening is Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.

Dick Enberg's play, McGuire, about legendary Marquette basketball coach Al McGuire will be presented on the historic El Portal Theatre's Mainstage in North Hollywood, April 9-12, 2009. McGuire stars award-winning Broadway and television actor Cotter Smith. Heidi Mueller-Smith directs. McGuire at the El Portal Theatre is positioned to immediately follow the NCAA Final Four weekend in Detroit.
This year marks the 32nd anniversary of McGuire's triumphant NCAA championship in Atlanta as head coach at Marquette. The show debuted on the Marquette campus in Milwaukee, Wis. in 2005 to sell-out audiences. It also has played at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Hofstra University, and North Coast Rep in Solana Beach, California.

On the surface, this is a classic story of man versus nature but on a spiritual level the story forces us to question our position and purpose in the universe, to wonder if perhaps there are some places, as the narrator says, that 'no human foot was meant to trod.'
The New York Times is reporting that famed Costume Designer Florence Klotz's Tony Award is for sale on eBay, the starting bid for the trophy at $10,000 (with an option to buy it outright for $20,000). But the Times has a huge inaccuracy in the piece, as they describe Ms. Klotz herself as posting the auction, which is fairly impossible as she sadly passed away in 2006.

Lea Thompson and Patrick Cassidy join Vicki Lewis and Jason Alexander. 'I Love My Wife' will be directed by Larry Moss with choreography by Lee Martino and music direction by Michael Skloff.

North American Cultural Laboratory (www.NACL.org), Brad Krumholz and Tannis Kowalchuk, Co-Artistic Directors, will present the Manhattan premiere of 'THE UNCANNY APPEARANCE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES,' based on a story written by Mr. Krumholz and created by NACL in collaboration with the ensemble. Krumholz also directs. Performances begin on December 2 at HERE Arts Center (www.here.org), 145 Sixth Avenue (between Spring and Broome Streets, enter on Dominick Street), and the show will officially open on Thursday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m. Performances will run through Sunday, December 21.
