Critical praise continues to grow for singer Isabel Rose and her 'one hell of an impressive debut,' ‘Swingin' From the Hip.' Tastemaker press outlet Blogcritics recently weighed in, with veteran writer Jack Goodstein noting, 'Her voice is clean and crisp, and she revels in the kind of originality of phrasing that has marked the classic jazz vocalists from Ella and Frank to Tony Bennett and Sarah Vaughn.' Listen to samples of the jazz/pop/swing/Cabaret hybrid, here: http://isabelrose.com/listen.html

For those who grew up in the 60s, it is easy to see why Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park (1963) was such a tremendous hit. Corie Banks Bratter (Melissa Soso) and Paul Bratter (Christian Kehoe) are the young newlyweds next-door, that everyone can relate to. Typical as well, they have day vs. night personalities. She is as sparkling, fun-loving and open-minded as he is sedate, serious and closed-in. They are different, but in the long run it does not get in the way. Today, sadly, they might actually divorce and never reconcile: alas , who knows? Differences are more the style in 2010, so they might just make it. After all, a young couple in love had and still do have hopes and dreams. That fact will never change. Simon's crisp dialogue and funny offbeat situations are certainly as timely as ever , and in GROUP rep's stunning production, the look and feel of the 60s are kept vibrantly alive thanks to a great cast and Stan Mazin's meticulous expertise as director.
'The 39 Steps' doesn't give you a chance to catch your breath, and that's a good thing!

Franklin 54 Gallery + Projects is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new works by Elisa Pritzker, titled 'Zipped.' In her 3rd solo show with the gallery, these digital art pieces on plexiglass are a break out of the box for the artist. Here Pritzker continues playing with photographic imagery as she has in the past but now presents a different visual. After capturing the moment in photographs she has altered and cleverly combined them with zippers - an interesting and somewhat mystifying everyday item. Her combinations are captivating and absorbing; her art has a reachable approach using ideas and objects that are part of everyday living - a master of minimalism she continues to say much with little. Although the new works have more imagery than her boxed pieces she keeps them clean, crisp and simple in context and execution. Working on a larger scale here Elisa has succeeded in transforming her minimalistic ideas into a unique vocabulary, increasing her range and giving us more to think about.
