The Kitchen's Spring 2018 Gala celebrates Nan Goldin and Lydia Lunch, two iconic American artists whose careers were borne of, deeply influenced, and have now engrained in collective memory the underground artistic spirit and political underpinnings of pre-gentrification Downtown New York subcultures (May 16). The evening features performances by New York's own post-punk band Bush Tetras, saxophonist and vocalist James Chance, and Australian singer JG Thirlwell & Ensemble with special guests. The after-party, hosted by Nicolas Jaar, will include a DJ set by Veronica Vasicka as well as performances by Retrovirus along with Lydia Lunch.

Carnegie Hall presents the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in three concerts conducted by Music Director Riccardo Muti, January 30 to February 1 in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. The series begins on Friday, January 30 at 8:00 p.m. with Muti leading a program featuring two portraits of the sea, Mendelssohn's Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage Overture and Debussy's La mer, paired with Scriabin's Symphony No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 43, "The Divine Poem," in which the Russian composer's newfound mysticism and fascination with touching all of the senses through music is at the core of an extravagantly scored work.

This spring, Orchestra of St. Luke's collaborates with the New York Philharmonic for the inaugural NY PHIL BIENNIAL, an 11-day exploration of today's music showcasing an array of curatorial voices through concerts presented with cultural partners throughout New York City. Based on biennials in the world of visual art, the NY PHIL BIENNIAL offers a snapshot of the music of our time, showcasing diverse musical ideas and broad philosophical themes. OSL co-presents two concerts, this weekend, May 31 and June 1 at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater, as part of this innovative festival. OSL Principal Conductor Pablo Heras-Casado will conduct these concerts and, at the invitation of New York Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert, has served as a curatorial collaborator for the festival.
