Washington DC?s funniest musical political comedians will perform songs from their most recent album, ?Liberal Shop of Horrors,? as well as new material, updated to the news of the day. The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that once employed them. Capitol Steps have 30 albums recorded, have been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS and can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio during their ?Politics Takes a Holiday? radio specials.

The Capitol Steps bring their special brand of political satire to Bristol Riverside Theatre for one week on February 19-February 23. Featuring parodies of well-known songs from the past several decades skewering the most talked about political issues and scandals of the day, performances are February 19 at 2:00 and 7:30, February 20 at 2:00, February 21 at 8:00, February 22 at 2:00 and 8:00, and February 23 at 3:00. Performance Network Theatre is selling out performances to "Good People" by David Lindsay-Abaire and has decided to extend the run an extra week with a 7:30pm performance on April 4, a 3pm and 8pm performance on April 6, and a final performance at 2pm on April 7, 2013. "Good People" - a 2011 Tony Nominee for Best Play - is studded with a cast of good friends and all-star talent.

Thirty years ago, THE CAPITOL STEPS began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the following years, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ('Don't quit your day job!'), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of 18 Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.

THE CAPITOL STEPS has been delighting audiences with political satire for over 30 years and is now something of a national institution. The group was born in December 1981 ('when Reagan was president and ketchup was a vegetable') when some Senate staffers got together to devise entertainment for their upcoming Christmas party. They came up with the novel idea of satirizing, to music, the very hands that fed them. And the rest, as they say, is history. . .
