New York Representative Peter King said of the recent terrorist strike, 'The Boston Marathon bombing 'is the fifth case' in which U.S. government officials examined individuals potentially involved in terrorism 'and felt they were no threat and they went on to carry out terrorist murders.' Author Geoffrey Partington helps people learn from Australian history and universal issues in order to shape a better future through his newly published book titled Making Sense of History.

Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch has announced the company's 2013-2014 season. Eight new works enter Houston Ballet's repertoire, including world premieres by James Kudelka, Garrett Smith and Melissa Hough in September 2013; the North American premiere of David Bintley's Aladdin in February 2014; company premieres of Jiri Kylian's Sechs Tanze, Christopher Bruce's Intimate Pages and Stanton Welch's Of Blessed Memory as well as a world premiere A Young Person's Guide to Orchestra by Mr. Welch in March 2014.

The Juneau Symphony was founded in 1962 by Cliff and Gladys Berge. It was first called the Juneau Symphonette, then the Juneau Little Symphony and played its first concert at the Twentieth Century Theater. The orchestra has presented concerts to Juneau and other Southeast community audiences every season since then. In 1976 the Juneau Symphony created its first board of directors and in 1981 received tax-exempt status as a 501(c)3 corporation.

From March 7-17, 2013, Houston Ballet will present The Rite of Spring, a program of premieres featuring three exciting 21st century choreographers and honoring the centenary of the premiere of Igor Stravinsky and Vaslav Nijinsky's landmark work. The company will unveil the world premiere of Stanton Welch's The Rite of Spring. A world premiere by internationally renowned choreographer Edwaard Liang to music by the Italian composer Ezio Bosso and a Houston Ballet premiere of Mark Morris's Pacific round out the program.

Hairspray: In Concert! will premiere with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra tonight, Jan. 11-13, 2013, and with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Jan. 24-27, 2013.

The Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company has announced that it has received a $1,500 grant from the prestigious Puffin Foundation to help fund two performances of '“Emma Goldman: My Life.' In 2008, ELTC received funding from this foundation to take its 'Paul Robeson Through His Words and Music' to Saint James Presbyterian Church in Harlem.

Keith Haring: 1978-1982, the first large-scale exhibition to explore Haring's early career, will be presented at the Brooklyn Museum from March 16 through July 8, 2012.

For the first time in New York, three of the late Brazilian avant-garde artist Helio Oiticica's rarely-seen multi-sensorial installations of color: Penetravel PN1 (1960); Penetravel Filtro (1972); and Penetravel PN28 "Nas Quebradas" (1979), will be on view at Galerie Lelong. Oiticica's invention of the Penetravel (Penetrable) series brought a new dimension to the artist's work, allowing him to create built environments and develop outdoor installations such as the well-known Magic Square series. Oiticica's Penetrables are considered among the first art installations, and have not been credited enough for their contribution to early conceptual art. Helio Oiticica: Penetrables opens to the public today, May 5, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm and the exhibition runs through June 16, 2012. The artist's brothers, Cesar and Claudio Oiticica, who direct the Projeto Helio Oiticica in Brazil will be present opening night.

Damn Yankees is headed to The 5th Avenue Theatre! This musical comedy is the story of an aging baseball fan who makes a deal with the Devil so his beloved hometown team can beat the Yankees in the race for the pennant.
