Frank Sinatra may have been born in Hoboken, New Jersey, but the Chairman of the Board always held a special place in his heart for the city that never sleeps -- 'The Apple,' as he called it. From a surprise appearance with Tommy Dorsey in 1955 to a 1990 concert at Radio City Music Hall, 'SINATRA: NEW YORK' follows the singer onstage at various iconic New York City venues, living out one of his most famous lines: 'If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere.' The five-disc boxed set (4-CD/1-DVD) of previously unreleased live performances will be available November 3, at all retail outlets, including www.Sinatra.com, for a suggested list price of $79.99 (physical) and $34.99 (digital).

His face is instantly recognizable; his name a synonym for 'genius.' Not since Galileo and Newton has one scientist so advanced our understanding of the universe as Albert Einstein (1879-1955). Dow Museum of Science and Art at Midland Center for the Arts on August 8, 2009, and remains on view through December 6, 2009.
This week marks the beginning of what has become an enduring tradition for Playhouse Square, as they launch their annual ?Cinema at the Square.? For the next two weeks, fifteen classic films will be revived on the second biggest screen in the Cleveland area (the local Imax is bigger but, by the same token, they aren?t going to be running ?Gone With the Wind? anytime soon) at Playhouse Square?s Palace Theatre. Two important post-Broadway mountings of 21st-century musicals opened in the Chicago area this week. One, 'Mary Poppins,' has had a great deal of attention. Now you can forget about it. This review concerns itself with the other one! 'Curtains,' the exemplary 2007 Kander and Ebb post-modern musical comedy, is now receiving its first post-Broadway mounting anywhere at our very own west suburban Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace. That?s right! This major coup for Oakbrook continues the very high standards for musicals that the theatre set last year, with no end in sight.
The Glass Menagerie is a timeless, contemporary American classic. Williams' beautifully crafted, semi-autobiographical play portrays the transformation of Tom Wingfield from a St. Louis warehouse worker during the depression who can only dream of adventure, to a merchant seaman who wanders the world.
Tom's freedom comes at acost: he must escape his overbearing mother and his adoring, childlike sister, Laura, who is onlyfree to express herself with the animals in her glass menagerie. When Tom's attempt to provideLaura with a gentleman caller ends in disaster, he is forced to abandon his sister in order to save himself.Anyone who has ever loved their family, but needed to go on their own journey of discovery, will laugh and perhaps cry at this tender portrayal of an artist's life in a glass menagerie.

Dancers Over 40 begin the second season of its popular series of panels and performances featuring Broadway and Film director/choreographer Jack Cole with 'Jack Cole, Alive and Kicking' on Monday, October 13th at 8:00pm (New Time) at The Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street. It will be hosted by legendary television talk show host Dick Cavett. Jack Cole gave Broadway, film and television a vocabulary and style of movement that is still imitated today. Protégés Gwen Verdon, Chita Rivera, Carol Haney and Bob Fosse have passed down his legacy, and his influence can still be seen. The popularity of these panels exposes a need within the theatrical/dance community to preserve the History, Legacy and Lives of dancers throughout the Golden Years of Theatre and Dance.
