Hunter College presents an exhibition of work by C12 Emerging Artists Fellows Nobutaka Aozaki and Alex Nuñez, on view from today, May 31-June 15, 2013. The exhibition, held at the Marianne Boesky Gallery, 118 East 64th Street, celebrates the first two recipients of the C12 Emerging Artist Award, which is bestowed each semester on a graduating student from Hunter College's highly competitive MFA in Studio Art program.

The popular circus company, Cirque du Soleil is quickly approaching their 30th anniversary. The company premiered CIRQUE DU SOLEIL, their first nouveau cirque-a theatrical and character-driven circus without performing animals-on June 16, 1984. Since their humble beginnings, they have become a worldwide phenomenon. Cirque du Soleil has developed 31 shows (many of which are still running in sit-down presentations or on tours) and currently working on at least a couple more.

The series provides a collaborative performance setting that juxtaposes contemporary artists that share a common thread, however subtle or tangential. Luyten and Alker's Studies of Inertia is a world premiere encompassing Inertia, Part I, which was performed as part of DNA's last season's RAW Directions program. After almost a decade of extensive work with choreographers such as David Dorfman, DNA gives Portier the spotlight for her world premiere of Beautiful Weather for an Air Raid.

This year's performances, tonight, October 4 and tomorrow, October 5, feature a broad spectrum of dance, with world premiere works by Tough Cookie Dance/Michael Philip Richman and Josselyn Levinson-Dustin, Ashley Brown, Hadley Smith, Kellie Lynch & Tara Lee Burns, Anna Marie Shogren, and Abby Zbikowski|the new utility. All artists worked with Bessie Award-winning choreographer Yanira Castro to prepare for the production. Both shows are at 7:30 p.m.

A Guide to Kinship and Maybe Magic is a new work conceived and directed by Isabel Lewis and performed by Brooklyn-based playwright, dramaturg and performer Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. The work will feature the 2011 film, SISTER, created by LEWIS FOREVER, a performance collective formed by Isabel and her three siblings, Sarah, Ligia and George Jr. All shows are at 7:30 p.m.
