Keri Pisapia is one of those Nashville actors who has quietly made a name for herself in a wide range of roles and productions during her time on the Music City stage. After adding a number of shows to her burgeoning resume (including the role of Anne in La Cage Aux Folles, which I directed for Circle Players a long, long time ago), she left Nashville to pursue her career in New York City, only to find herself returning to her adopted hometown after her NYC sojourn.

In January of 2009, the new music world lost one of its greatest champions. The late philanthropist, photographer and writer Betty Freeman was without question the most significant American advocate for contemporary classical music in the second half of the 20th century. In her will, Ms. Freeman requested that no funeral be held, but instead a party be thrown in her memory. REDCAT is delighted to honor Ms. Freeman's request with Party for Betty!, a celebration of the life, work and legacy of Betty Freeman held at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 8:30 pm.

Puppet theater has an uncanny ability to take on big themes, and such was when Jane Catherine Shaw, co-director of the Voice 4 Vision Puppet Festival, takes on world drought in 'Thirst: Memory of Water,' her newest puppet theater work. It's a big theme, but Shaw is trying to make it manageable by concentrating on themes of women and water because, as she writes, 'around the world women are carrying (literally) the burden of maintaining life by walking for water.' The play will end its run at La MaMa on April 11 in its First Floor Theater.
