BWW Reviews: FROM HERE TO ETERNITY, Shaftesbury Theatre, October 19 2013
by Carrie Dunn - Oct 24, 2013

One has to admire the bravery of anyone who's willing to launch a brand-new musical at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Despite the successes of Hairspray and Rock of Ages, people seem to enjoy whispering about the 'curse of the Shaftesbury' due to its string of flops, and it seems to me that a fair number of onlookers really do want new shows to fail just for the continuation of this coincidental curse. BWW Reviews: Folger Theatre's ROMEO AND JULIET Rivets with Modern Relevance
by Elizabeth Bruce - Oct 24, 2013

Woe unto the society that undervalues its teenage girls. From the Pakistani Malala Yousafzai's of today to the Joan of Arcs, Ruby Bridges, and Anne Franks of history, young womanhood's quest for self-determination challenges our social mores as few other phenomena do. In Folger Theatre's ROMEO AND JULIET, passionately directed by Aaron Posner, Juliet too is such a heroine, and this tragic tale of young love lost becomes a much deeper story of human rights denied. Robert Thornhill Releases 'Lady Justice and the Vet'
by BWW News Desk - Oct 24, 2013

Award-winning author Robert Thornhill announces the release of the fifteenth installment in his Lady Justice mystery/comedy series, 'Lady Justice and the Vet.' The first fourteen novels in the series, Lady Justice Takes A C.R.A.P. City Retiree Action Patrol, Lady Justice and the Lost Tapes, Lady Justice Gets Lei'd, Lady Justice and the Avenging Angels, Lady Justice and the Sting, Lady Justice And Dr. Death, Lady Justice and the Vigilante, Lady Justice and the Watchers, Lady Justice and the Candidate, Lady Justice and the Book Club Murders, Lady Justice and the Cruise Ship Murders, Lady Justice and the Class Reunion, Lady Justice and the Assassin and Lady Justice and the Lottery are currently available through bookstores, online and on the author's website. Ben Singleton, a Marine veteran, had returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan and was having difficulty adjusting to civilian life. Fate, coincidence, or something else thrust Him right into the heart of some of Walt and Ox's most difficult cases. Our heroes find themselves knee-deep in trouble as they go undercover in a nursing home to smoke out practitioners of Medicaid fraud, meanwhile, Islamic terrorists with ties to the Taliban are plotting to attack one of Kansas City's most cherished institutions. Join Walt and his band of senior sidekicks on another emotional roller coaster ride that will have you shedding tears of laughter one minute and sorrow the next. Jaime Geraldi of Article Write-Up writes, 'Lady Justice and the Vet' is a thought-provoking tale that will dig deep into the hearts of many people across the globe. 'Whether we like it or not, we are all somehow affected by war. The battles are inevitable as told in this story which focuses on PTSD. Soldiers are not the only ones who fall victim to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The family and friends of our freedom fighters feel the pain often, too. 'The author gingerly approaches this sensitive topic with ease, yet the readers will find it to be raw and very, very real. Emotions and interests will be piqued, and some may even find themselves shedding a tear or two as we traverse into the minds and memories of the numerous brave veterans spotlighted throughout. 'This is a phenomenally well-told story of just several of the many men and women who continue to suffer from this often ignored mental ailment. 'Remember to thank a vet today.' Lady Justice and the Sting and Lady Justice and Dr. Death, Lady Justice and the Vigilante, Lady Justice and the Candidate, Lady Justice and the Book Club Murders and Lady Justice and the Cruise Ship Murders won the Pinnacle Award for the best new mystery novels of Fall 2011, Winter 2012, Summer 2012, Fall 2012, Spring 2013 and Summer 2013 from the National Association of Book Entrepreneurs. Robert is also the author of the Rainbow Road series of chapter books for children. (more...)

Dreadful, Disappointing GHOST: THE MUSICAL Makes an Appearance at PPAC
by Robert Barossi - Oct 23, 2013

There are many good rules pertaining to the creation of a new Broadway musical. Two of them are, 1) Just because you have the technology to do something doesn't necessarily mean that you should do it and 2) Some movies just shouldn't be made into musicals. The first U.S. national tour of Ghost: The Musical, playing at Providence Performing Arts Center is an excellent example of what happens when both of those are thrown out the window. (more...)
