Photo Flash: Relatives of William Inge Visit Peccadillo's A LOSS OF ROSES

This past Sunday, May 18th, the sold out audience at the first NY revival of William Inge's A LOSS OF ROSES included Inge's nephew, James A. Mahan, as well as Mahan's children and grandchildren. They joined the cast onstage afterwards for a full family & company portrait. On behalf of the family, James Mahan's daughter Sandra wrote the following to the production the next day: 'A heartfelt thank you for having us! We so enjoyed the play and meeting the cast. Clearly everyone involved with this production put much heartfelt energy into it. Your theater has such a very warm and inviting feel which we embraced!'

Rubicon Theatre to Present COLLECTED STORIES, 5/28-6/22

Rubicon Theatre continues the company's 16th Not Your Typical Season with Collected Stories. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Donald Margulies and directed by James O'Neil, Collected Stories is a two-person play featuring Susan Clark (Emmy Winner - "Babe Zaharias," "Webster," Shaw Festival and the Taper) as a brilliant, direct writing professor and Meghan Andrews (Frost/Nixon and The Grapes of Wrath on Broadway) as her eager-yet-talented student. Opening May 28th at 7:00 p.m., Collected Stories runs Wednesdays through Sundays until June 21st.

Peccadillo Theater Co. to Present William Inge's A LOSS OF ROSES, Begin. 5/7

The OBIE, Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk Award-winning Peccadillo Theater Company, in association with La Femme Theatre Productions, will present the New York City premiere of the original version of William Inge's A Loss of Roses beginning May 7th at Theatre at St. Clement's, 423 West 46th Street, NYC, and continuing through June 7th, 2014. The play opens officially on May 12th at 7 PM.

Will Eno's new play The Realistic Joneses will come to Broadway in Spring of 2014 starring Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner; Academy Award and Tony Award-nominee Toni Collette (“Hostages,” “United States of Tara,” The Sixth Sense, The Wild Party), Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award-winner Michael C. Hall (“Dexter,” Chicago), Tony Award-winner Tracy Letts (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?; August: Osage County; “Homeland”), and Academy Award-winner and Gold Globe-nominee Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny; The Wrestler; Salome). The production will be directed by Obie Award-winner Sam Gold, who is currently represented by Fun Home at the Public Theater.

TOADIES Bring Dia De Los TOADIES Festival Home to Fort Worth Tonight

After five years of hosting their annual end-of-summer throw down at various locations throughout the state, the Toadies are taking the sixth Dia De Los Toadies to their hometown of Fort Worth. This year's festival, set to feature a dozen bands performing across two stages, will take place on September 14, at Panther Island Pavilion, just minutes from downtown Fort Worth. Per tradition, the band will also host an intimate 'fireside/almost acoustic' showcase tonight, September 13, the evening before their day-long bash.

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre has announced its 2013/2014 Season, which will include two treasures from iconic American playwrights. The critically-acclaimed and Drama Desk nominated Off-Broadway company 'dedicated to presenting neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit,' will present the family drama Natural Affection by William Inge and the comedy Beyond Therapy by Christopher Durang, Off-Broadway at The Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) on Theatre Row. Neither play has been seen in NYC since their original productions.

Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, On Your Toes will have guest music direction by Encores! founding music director Rob Fisher and will play seven performances, from May 8 - 12 at New York City Center, W. 55th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues). The "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" ballet, originally choreographed by George Balanchine, will be staged by Susan Pilarre, who served as a Ballet Mistress of the show's 1983 Broadway Revival.

After more than three decades away, Reed Birney made a well-deserved return to the Broadway stage when Roundabout's production of Picnic opened earlier this month. He plays Howard Bevans, the small-town businessman who gets entangled with "old-maid schoolteacher" Rosemary Sydney (Elizabeth Marvel). Between his 1977 Broadway debut inGemini and his current turn as Howard, Birney found himself working off-Broadway. He gained critical acclaim for his work-particularly for his portrayal of the violent Ian in Sarah Kane's Blasted at SoHo Rep, a departure from his customary "nice-guy" roles.
