Steppenwolf Theatre Company continues its 2010-2011 season with The Hot L Baltimore by Lanford Wilson, directed by ensemble member Tina Landau. The production features ensemble members Alana Arenas, Kate Arrington, Jon Michael Hill, James Vincent Meredith, Yasen Peyankov and Molly Regan with De'Adre Aziza, Jeremy Glickstein, Sean Allan Krill, TaRon Patton, Namir Smallwood, Samuel Taylor, Allison Torem and Jacqueline Williams. The Hot L Baltimore plays March 24 - May 29, 2011 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted St. The press performances are Saturday, April 2 at 3 pm and Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30 pm.

Playwright Lanford Wilson Dies at 73

Broadway playwright Lanford Wilson passed away this morning, March 24. He was 73 years old. Considered one of the founders of the Off-Off-Broadway theater movement, Wilson received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1980, was elected in 2001 to the Theater Hall of Fame, and in 2004 was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

TALLEY'S FOLLY is the second in Lanford Wilson's acclaimed trilogy that includes FIFTH OF JULY. FIFTH is currently enjoying a full production at Civic Theatre. Due to the recent blast of snowy and icy weather, Civic Theatre of Allentown will delay performances of Lanford Wilson's Tony-nominated play, "Fifth of July," by one week. The show, which was previously scheduled to open on February 18, will now begin performances on Thursday, February 24 and will run through Saturday, March 5. Patrons holding tickets for cancelled performances are asked to contact the Civic Theatre Box Office at 610-432-8943 to receive tickets for a new date.

Lanford Wilson's Tony-nominated Fifth of July, called the 'wisest and funniest play of its generation' by the New York Times, made its Lehigh Valley debut when it opened in Civic's 19th Street Theatre on Friday, February 18th. Fifth of July will close Sunday, February 27th, with eight total performances. The passionate modern classic, 'Burn This' by Pulitzer Prize-winner Lanford Wilson, has now begun rehearsals under the direction of Nicholas Martin. Previews for 'Burn This' at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum are March 23 - May 1, 2011, with opening set for April 3. The cast includes, in alphabetical order, Brooks Ashmanskas, Ken Barnett, Zabryna Guevara and Adam Rothenberg.
