After a critically acclaimed run this spring, A WHITE MAN'S GUIDE TO RIKERS ISLAND returns this summer for an extended run. Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop) has announced that it will produce Intimate Apparel, a new opera with music by Ricky Ian Gordon and a libretto by Lynn Nottage, based on her critically acclaimed play.  The production, which will be directed by Bartlett Sher, will begin previews Thursday, February 27 and open on Monday, March 23 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street). 

From June 19 to 23, New Yiddish Rep will present 'Crazy Meshuge Hurricane Earthquake' by Amy Coleman, directed by David Mandelbaum, at The Playroom Theater, 151 West 46th Street, 8 fl. This six-character play (portrayed by four actors) is the story of an unlikely connection that develops between a middle aged non-religious Jewish woman and a young Hasidic man struggling with schizophrenia. Hired to be his caretaker, the woman attempts to give him the support he needs, but discovers that her agenda may have more to do with her own needs than his. The play offers important lessons on love and trust.

Adapted and translated by the winner of the 2019 Elliot Norton Award for Sustained Excellence, Melinda Lopez transforms this classic work to resonate with modern audiences.

Shattered Globe Theatre concludes its 2018-19 Season with Kate Fodor's drama HANNAH AND MARTIN, directed by SGT Ensemble Member Louis Contey*. This World War II drama in which a passionate love affair is abruptly interrupted by political realities will play April 11 - May 25, 2019 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago.

After fantastic audience and critical response, BAREFOOT, a daring new sexual escapade by Kate T. Billingsley and Thomas G. Waites, will extend through March 2 at the Gene Frankel Theatre when it began performances on January 24. BAREFOOT is produced by Black Rose Productions and directed by Thomas G. Waites (Awake and Sing! with Frances McDormand, Al Pacino's King Richard III).

Connecting with an even wider audience, critically-acclaimed country artist Kalie Shorr has released two singles in different genres at the same time: the title track off her latest EP, “Awake” (Country Mix) and the pop/EDM “Awake” (Pop Mix) featuring American Idol finalist Jonny Brenns. Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces the full company for Ruth and Augustus Goetz's melodrama, The Heiress, suggested by the Henry James novel, Washington Square. After growing up subjected to her father's disinterest and strong resentment, a young woman in the 1850s discovers what love is in her journey towards independence, growth and strength, without an impactful female role model in her life. Directed by Deputy Artistic Director Seema Sueko, The Heiress runs February 8 - March 10, 2019 in the Fichandler Stage.

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce two of the three productions planned for the 2019 Mainstage Summer Season. The first will be the World Premiere of SAFE SPACE, which will run from May 28 - June 16. This new play is by Alan Fox and will be directed by three-time Tony Award Winner Jack O'Brien (The Hard Place, Hairspray, The Coast of Utopia).

Transport Group has announced that casting for The Trial of the Catonsville Nine, written by Daniel Berrigan and directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III, includes Mia Katigbak (Awake and Sing!, I Remember Mama), Eunice Wong (Mourning Becomes Electra, Smart People) and David Huynh (Henry VI, A Midsummer Night's Dream). The Trial of the Catonsville Nine runs Wednesday, January 16 through Sunday, February 23, 2019 at the Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand Street. The opening night is scheduled for Wednesday, February 6 at 7:30pm.

The multiple Tony award-winning Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's THE KING AND I is coming to cinemas around the world this autumn. THE KING AND I: FROM THE PALLADIUM, filmed on stage at the iconic London Palladium, will open in cinemas for one night only on November 29. Tickets are now on sale.
