Fundamental Theater Project to Present Staged Reading of New Rock Musical SUPERSOLDIER, 10/14

Fundamental Theater Project will present the upcoming staged reading of Supersoldier, a new rock musical with book, music and lyrics by Hair co-creator, Jim Rado. The reading is presented in collaboration with New York Theatre Barn, and will be directed by NYTB Artistic Director, Joe Barros. Ted Rado also serves as Co-Book Writer on the piece, and Steve Margoshes and Marteen Andruet join as Musical Directors. (more...)

The Theatre School at DePaul University proudly presents HANSEL & GRETEL, by Moses Goldberg and directed by Ann Wakefield, as the first production of the 2013-2014 Chicago Playworks for Families and Young Audiences Series. This production opens Today, October 12, and runs through Today, November 16, 2013, at DePaul's historic Merle Reskin Theatre. Performances are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 10 AM, and Todays at 2 PM. A special Sunday performance (2 PM) will be held on October 27. There will be no Today performance on October 26. PICT Theatre's final production of the season is the Pittsburgh premiere of Paul Giovanni's The Crucifer of Blood, a Sherlock Holmes adventure featuring characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Matt Torney directs. David Whalen returns to reprise the role of Sherlock Holmes since his 2011 turn as the master detective. Also returning from the 2011 production is Daryll Heysham as Inspector Lestrade. Justin R. G. Holcomb makes his PICT debut as Dr. Watson. (more...)

Stage Adaptation of Toni Bentley's THE SURRENDER to Receive NYC Premiere in January

The Carol Tambor Theatrical Foundation is thrilled to announce the U.S. premiere of the stage adaptation of Toni Bentley's groundbreaking erotic memoir THE SURRENDER, directed by Zishan Ugurlu and starring Laura Campbell. THE SURRENDER will have its U.S. debut following critically acclaimed productions by the Spanish National Theatre (Centro Dramatico Nacional) in Madrid and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2013. Performances begin on Wednesday, January 8 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 2 at The Clurman Theatre on Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues).
