The Friend Center at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco (JCCSF) continues the 2008-09 season in the New Year with an expansive array of performing arts events, including participation in Evolve, the citywide celebration of Charles Darwin's The Origin of Species publication. Lookingglass Theatre Company presents its 50th World Premiere with its production of the Lookingglass Original, 'The Brothers Karamazov', written and directed by Ensemble Member Heidi Stillman, adapted from the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky, translated by Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky. The production runs October 15- December 7, 2008 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. Strawdog Theatre Company continues Late Night offerings into their 21st anniversary season, with free or low-cost shows following Friday and Saturday performances of 'R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots).' The Friday offering is called 'Strawdog Welcomes,' and features guest artists and companies to present various entertainment acts.
In June, Molly Regan replaced Rondi Reed as August: Osage County's new Mattie Fae. It's not an easy feat for an actor to come into an ensemble in the middle of a run. Add into that replacing a lead actress in the year's Pulitzer, Tony AND Drama Desk winning play two days after that actress won a Tony for her performance.
