Alwin Nikolais' Classics to Take the Stage at The Joyce Theater Next Month

Welcome to 2016 via 1950 at The Joyce Theater, February 9-14, when a series of the late choreographer's groundbreaking works-'Tensile Involvement,' 'Gallery,' 'Mechanical Organ III,' and 'Crucible' command the stage courtesy of the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, the repository of 'Nik's' greatest hits. Alberto del Saz, director of the Nikolais/Louis Foundation for Dance, selected, staged and directed the season repertory.

After a 19-month run across Australia (Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, and Brisbane), amassing 588 performances, Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed reimagined production of Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil's 30-year-old megamusical LES MISERABLES closes today, January 17, at Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC) 2,000-seat Lyric Theatre. Fans of the musical can still catch the free supplementary exhibition titled 'Les Miserables: From Page to Stage' at QPAC's Tony Gould Gallery until this Friday, January 23.

Washington State native Trisha Brown is considered the most widely acclaimed choreographer of the postmodern era. For over 50 years, she pushed the limits of choreographic movement, changing modern dance forever. At 79, Trisha Brown has choreographed her last dances. In celebration of her life's work, Trisha Brown Dance Company returns to the choreographer's home state to perform the final performances of her works for the proscenium stage as part of a retrospective presented by University of Washington's World Series at Meany Hall.

When Dolly Parton, who starred in the hit movie version, 9 to 5, and Patricia Resnick premiered 9 to 5: The Musical in Los Angeles in 1980, they probably never imagined it would go on to receive the most Drama Desk Award nominations in Broadway history as well as four Tony Award nominations. More so, here it is 35 years later and the show is still packing houses all over the country and still with pertinent messages. The Alhambra Theatre & Dining, the nation's longest running professional dinner theater, will run 9 to 5: The Musical presented by Brumo's Automotive from tonight, September 16, 2015 through October 18, 2015.

On the 60th anniversary of its last major survey of modern architecture in Latin America, The Museum of Modern Art returns its focus to the region with Latin America in Construction: Architecture 1955-1980, a complex overview of the positions, debates, and architectural creativity from the Rio Grande to Tierra del Fuego, from Mexico to Cuba to the Southern Cone, between 1955 and 1980. On view March 29 through July 19, 2015, Latin America in Construction is organized by Barry Bergdoll, Curator, and Patricio del Real, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Architecture and Design, MoMA; Jorge Francisco Liernur, Universidad Torcuato di Tella, Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Carlos Eduardo Comas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Brazil; with the assistance of an advisory committee from across Latin America.

For Tales of the Brothers Grimm, thirty-six celebrated and lesser-known of the unsanitized fairy tales collected by the illustrious brothers were carefully chosen by artist Natalie Frank, re-interpreted in seventy-five gouache and chalk pastel drawings, and cast in a Surrealist dreamscape. This will be the largest collection of Grimm's Fairy Tales ever illustrated by a fine artist.
