Ivan Nicholas is losing it. His life used to be full of promise, possibility and happiness. But his ability to find solace in the mundane has finally thrown him into a deep depression. A failed career, debt, religion, hair loss, anti-depressants and a dying wife - ingredients for a shockingly relevant comedy. Is it all about healthcare and making payments? What’s the alternative? There must be more. There must be! Chekhov’s first play, Ivanov (aka “the Russian Hamlet”) gets a radical adaptation set in rural America. This rarely produced classic comes to Salt Lake City in a reimagined production written and directed by Riot Act’s artistic director Whit Hertford after Anton Chekhov.
