The Cincinnati Arts Association has announced the winners of its Overture Awards Competition.  Due to the impact of the pandemic, all three rounds of the competition were held virtually, culminating in an online announcement and celebration ceremony on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 7:00 PM. 

60 Young Artists Have Been Nominated for 2020 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts

National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) today announced the nominees for the 2020 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students who exemplify academic and artistic excellence. YoungArts is the sole nominating agency for this high honor and the 60 candidates, representing 16 states and nine artistic disciplines, are all YoungArts Winners. The students have been nominated to the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program for their artistic achievement on the heels of the organization's annual signature program, National YoungArts Week, which concluded in Miami on January 12.

Wieder einmal ist es dem Landestheater Linz gelungen, sich die Rechte für ein Hit-Musical zu sichern, das bisher ausschließlich in kommerziellen Produktionen zu sehen war. Alan Menken (Die Schöne und das Biest, Aladdin, Rapunzel a?" neu verföhnt) schrieb die mitreißende Musik für die Musicalversion der bekannten Filmkomödie mit Whoopie Goldberg, Regie führt Andreas Gergen (Besuch der alten Dame, I Am From Austria) und es choreografiert Kim Duddy (The Wiz).

Arts Management Veteran Marcus L. Overton Passes Away At Age 75

Marcus L. Overton, a passionate and colorful 54-year veteran of the performing arts management world as well as an actor, director, writer, teacher, scholar, linguist and Emmy-award winning radio and TV host, died at age 75 on June 9 in San Diego after a long battle with kidney failure. He is survived by his husband Raymond A. Fluta. Overton left instructions that his ashes were to be taken to Paris, a city he visited yearly, and scattered on the graves of Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, Alice B. Toklas, Marcel Proust and Francois Poulenc.

The Lexington Theatre Company is in final preparations for its second 'Concert With The Stars,' January 16, 2016, at 8:00pm at The Lexington Opera House.
