$45 Million Approved to Commence Completion of Dr. Phillips Center

The Orange County Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted this afternoon to approve an amendment that would provide an additional $45 million for the completion of Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. This is the third and final vote that officially allows for the funding, which is made up of monies collected from the Tourist Development Tax. The funding plan, proposed in a memo from Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs on September 9, 2016, was unanimously approved by both the Tourist Development Council on September 30, 2016 and the Orlando City Council on October 24, 2016.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts will celebrate Mexico's revered Dia de los Muertos with performances by Perla Batalla, La Santa Cecilia, Pacifico Dance and Quetzal on November 2, 2016 in the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall starting at 7:30 p.m. Four performances will take place in a single concert: Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Perla Batalla, LA bands La Santa Cecilia and Quetzal and Pacifico Dance Company.
