Horse Trade Presents Less Than Rent's HOW LTR STOLE CHRISTMAS, Now thru 12/17

Horse Trade Theater Group will present Less Than Rent Theatre's World Premiere of HOW LTR STOLE CHRISTMAS, a late-night smorgasbord of short plays, musical guests, and variety acts from all over the city curated by the LTR staff. The show will run Tuesdays, today, December 3rd, 10th, & 17th at The Kraine Theater (85 E 4th St. between 2nd Ave and Bowery) at 9pm.

Marc Kudisch to Join Steven Boyer in MCC's HAND TO GOD; Full Cast Announced

MCC THEATER today announced that Steven Boyer, previously announced to reprise his celebrated, Obie Award-winning performance in MCC's upcoming Off-Broadway premiere of Robert Askins' Hand to God, will be joined in that production by Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch as well asGeneva Carr, Michael Oberholtzer, and Sarah Stiles. Hand to God, which first appeared in New York to great acclaim at the Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) in 2011, will be directed once again by Moritz von Stuelpnagel and begins at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on February 20, 2014. An official opening night is set for March 10, 2014.

Jennifer Barnhart - who made her Broadway debut in 2003 in the original cast of the Tony Award-winning musical AVENUE Q - returns to the long-running hit at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.) starting with the Monday, November 11 performance at 8 pm. Tony Award-winning actors Christian Borle (Peter and the Starcatcher, Spamalot) and Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone, Elf), Tony nominee Annaleigh Ashford (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde), and Broadway stars Heidi Blickenstaff ([title of show], The Little Mermaid) and Derek Klena (Wicked, Dogfight) are all scheduled to take part in the developmental reading. Dog and Pony will receive its World Premiere at The Old Globe next spring, running May 28 - June 29, 2014; casting for that production will be announced at a later time.

This week, Theater Talk focuses on The Vineyard Theatre's acclaimed production of The Landing, the newest work by Tony Award-winning composer John Kander - and his first full collaboration without his late songwriting partner Fred Ebb. In addition to Kander, the guests are the show's librettist/lyricist Greg Pierce, director Walter Bobbie, and star David Hyde Pierce (who is also Greg Pierce's uncle), who talk to Theater Talk co hosts Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins about creating this production. The Landing is an evening of three one-act chamber musicals, each with a twist, and in this interview Theater Talk's guests each share about his role in bringing the inventive show, that Ben Brantley called "an elegantly slender production," to life.
