This new music-theatre piece is a stirring and powerful work that explores complex questions about history, identity and power as it takes us deeper into the storm stirring beneath Sara Jan's sunny exterior. This is Avenue Q, a very different neighborhood, no less fun, but not for children! Stage West is importing the long-running Theatre 3 production of this mega-hit from Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx (Music & Lyrics) and Jeff Whitty (Book), featuring a brand-new set, for a 6-week run at Stage West beginning tonight, January 9.

MCC THEATER announced today that tickets are now on sale for the anticipated Off-Broadway premiere of Robert Askins' Hand to God starring Steven Boyer who reprises his celebrated, Obie Award-winning performance from the Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) in 2011. Boyer will be joined in this brand new production by Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch as well as Geneva Carr, Michael Oberholtzer, and Sarah Stiles. Hand to God is directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel and begins at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on February 19, 2014. An official opening night is set for March 10, 2014. The celebrated, award-winning downtown film/theater cooperative The Paradise Factory will re-open following a 2-year, $4 million renovation with the world premiere of Tom Noonan's comedy the SHAPE of SOMETHING SQUASHED. Preview performances are February 17 and 18 prior to the official press opening February 26, 2014 at the new Paradise Factory venue, 64E4 (64 East 4th St.) in Manhattan. One of the highlights of the renovation is the addition of a new performance space, giving The Paradise Factory two performance spaces for the first time in its 30-year history.

'The Piano Teacher' opens February 5, 2014, with a limited run through February 23 in the Smith Theatre of the Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center (HVPA) on the campus of HCC. Amphibian Stage Productions today announced casting for its first staged reading of the 2014 season, The North Pool by Rajiv Joseph. Patrick Bynane and Nolan Chapa will star in this drama, running Sunday, January 19 and Monday, January 20 at Amphibian's theater at 120 S. Main Street. Linsey Retcofsky will direct the reading.

Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre continues its 44th season with Dr. Du Bois and Miss Ovington starring Kathleen Chalfant and Timothy Simonson. Gabrielle L. Kurlander directs. Performances begin January 16h, with opening night scheduled for January 30th.

Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Frederick Weller and Tony® Award nominee Bobby Steggert will join Tony® and Emmy® Award winner Tyne Daly in the upcoming Broadway production of Terrence McNally's Mothers and Sons, it was announced today. Weller will portray Cal Porter opposite Daly's Katharine Gerard. Steggert, currently seen on Broadway in Big Fish, reprises the role of Will Ogden which he created in an earlier production of the play at Bucks County Playhouse. Mothers and Sons marks Mr. McNally's 20th Broadway show, and will be directed by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall). It will play Broadway's John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). Preview performances have been set to begin Sunday, February 23, 2014, and the opening night has been announced for Monday, March 24, 2014. A riveting new play by Pulitzer Prize nominee and creator of TV's hit drama Brothers & Sisters, Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities was named the Outstanding Play by the Outer Critics Circle and called 'the best new play on Broadway' by The New York Times. The world premiere of Laura Jacqmin's DO-GOODER opens 16th Street Theater's Season Seven performing January 16 - February 22, 2014 at 6420 16th Street in Berwyn, with a press opening of Thursday, January 23 at 7:30 PM. Buzz22 Chicago has announced the casting for the World Premiere production of Laura Jacqmin's 'GHOST BIKE,' directed by Co-Artistic Director Sara Sawicki, February 27 - March 30, 2014 at Red Tape Theatre, 621 W Belmont Ave. Combining elements of Greek, African, and Chinese mythology, 'GHOST BIKE' depicts two best friends navigating the ultimate challenge to a friendship through an underworld beneath their home city of Chicago. 'GHOST BIKE' is Buzz22 Chicago's next production after their sold out and highly acclaimed production of 'She Kills Monsters' at the Steppenwolf Garage in Feb-April 2013.

The Tony Award-winning actress Linda Lavin will return to the Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15 St.) - where she created the role of Rita Lyons in Nicky Silver's acclaimed comedy THE LYONS in 2012 - in Mr. Silver's newest work, TOO MUCH SUN, with previews set to begin May 1, 2014 prior to an official opening on May 20.
